David Lowenstein DC, LAc, MD (China) -  Dipl. Acupuncture & Asian Bodywork Therapy (NCCAOM) - has over 35 years experience practicing Acupuncture, Chiropractic, Shiatsu , Tuina and Manual Therapies . Dr. Lowenstein has been licensed to practice in Arizona since 1991. His credentials include being Nationally Certified as a Diplomate in both Acupuncture and Asian Bodywork Therapy with the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine  www.nccaom.org , and a Certified Instructor and Practitioner of Shiatsu with the American Organization for the Bodywork Therapies of Asia www.aobta.org .
 
Dr. Lowenstein is a graduate of the Ohashi Institute and was certified to practice Shiatsu in 1983 by world renowned Shiatsu Master Wataru Ohashi 
www.ohashi.com.  He began his formal study of Shiatsu in 1976 and studied with many Masters of Shiatsu and Tuina and has been awarded the highest designation possible in the United States as a Certified Instructor and Practitioner of Shiatsu, registered with the American Organization for the Bodywork Therapies of Asia - AOBTA www.aobta.org.  As a founding member of the AOBTA, he was a past President and Vice-President with a lifetime membership status.
 
Dr. Lowenstein completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from Arizona State University and at Ohio State University he received a Master of Arts Degree; researching the health benefits of Tai Chi Chuan and Qi Gong; as well as a Master of Science degree in Acupuncture at Phoenix Institute of Herbal Medicine and Acupuncture. Dr. Lowenstein was the recipient of the prestigious Gonstead Scholarship; awarded as a full scholarship for his Doctor of Chiropractic education at Cleveland Chiropractic College, Kansas City Missouri.
 
At New York University, Dr. Lowenstein received a SEHNAP Fellowship to research, apply and evaluate various Manual and Movement Medicine Therapies, completing an internship in Movement Therapy at Bellevue Hospital in New York City, New York. He is a Dance/Movement Therapist registered with the American Dance/Movement Therapy Association
www.adta.org ; a therapy which utilizes the psychotherapeutic use of movement to further the emotional, cognitive, physical and social integration of the individual. Dr Lowenstein has worked in Hospitals and out-patient clinics incorporating Tai Chi and Qi Gong in Movement Therapy. He is also a Certified Movement Analyst, graduate of the Laban/Bartenieff Center for Movement Studies in New York City www.limsonline.org. 
 
Dr. Lowenstein travelled to China where he spent over a year and a half practicing and studying Traditional Chinese Medicine in hospitals and clinics in Beijing, Guangzhou, Shanghai , Wuxi and Shenzen.  He completed an internship in Traditional Chinese Medicine at the famous Tongren Hospital in Beijing and was awarded an MD license in China to practice Rehabilitation Medicine
at Shanghai Dong Fang Lian He Hospital. He was later promoted to Director of Rehabilitation Medicine at Puhua International Hospital in Beijing, China.  Dr Lowenstein completed advanced clinical training in Acupuncture and Moxibustion at the Beijing Traditional Medicine Training Center of the World Federation of Acupuncture and Moxibustion Societies (WFAS) www.wfas.org.cn . At TianTan Park in Beijing China, Dr Lowenstein practiced and refined his skills in Qi Gong and Tai Chi Chuan in the traditional Chinese way.

Dr. Lowenstein has taught courses at universities, colleges and seminars throughout the United States and Europe in Oriental Medicine, Movement Therapy and Manual Medicine Therapies to include Acupuncture , Shiatsu, Tuina, Sotai, Myofascial Release, Lymphatic Drainage, Trigger Point and Neuromuscular Therapy techniques.

Dr. Lowenstein is licensed by both the Arizona Acupuncture Board of Examiners and the Arizona Chiropractic Board of Examiners with certification in Physical Medicine modalities and Therapeutic procedures.
